The end of the Spanish Golden Visa
The end of the Spanish Golden Visa: What does it mean for you?
The Spanish Golden Visa program has been around since 2013. It allowed people from outside the EU to get a residence permit by investing in Spain. This could be done by:
- Buying property worth at least €500,000.
- Investing €2 million or more in Spanish government bonds.
- Putting money into Spanish businesses.
From 2025, the program will end, and no new applications will be accepted. Here’s what it means for you:
What’s changing?
- Do you already have a Golden Visa? Don’t worry! Nothing will change for you. You can continue to renew your permit as long as you meet the requirements.
- Do you have a pending application? Good news! If you applied before 2025, your application will still be processed under the current rules.
- Thinking of applying? Don’t wait! This is your last chance to benefit from this program.
What about the future?
Even though the Golden Visa program is ending, Spain remains a great place for investment. In the future, new programs may be introduced to attract foreign investors. Spain is still known for its great lifestyle, safety, and stable legal system.
